Opera releases report on the most popular Android phones in Africa

According to a recent report by Opera, Samsung, Tecno and Huawei phones are the most widely used Android devices by Opera browser users in Africa.

The web and mobile browser recently released the new Opera Mini for Android, which is now one of the top-featured apps in the Google Play store in several countries and still offers a faster and cheaper browsing experience for Android users.

In Morocco, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan, the study found that Samsung devices were mostly used by Opera Mini browser users, while the Tecno P5, a low-end smartphone from an Asian brand, is the most popular in Nigeria, Tanzania, Guinea and Rwanda. In South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Angola and Ghana, the report showed that the Huawei Ascend Y221-U22 is mostly used.

From the report, Samsung phones hold the top spot in most Asian countries, as the Galaxy S3 (Samsung GT-I9300) was found to be the most popular phone in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands and Czech Republic.

However, in China, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, local brands are the indisputable favorites, with Xiaomi, Micromax, Symphony and Qmobile devices topping the charts.
