LAUTECH appeals to Nursing Council to index students

The Head of Department of Nursing   Ladoke Akintola University of Technology College of Health Sciences, Osogbo, Dr. Lawal Ajibade, has appealed to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to index remaining students of the department for the Nursing Council examination holding in November.

Ajibade said this in a speech he delivered  at the induction of 236 newly qualified nurses of produced by the university.

The HOD also advised the graduates to shun practices believed to be unprofessional.

The speech was made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday.

He said, "I will crave the indulgence of the vice chancellor to remind the registrar N&MCN to please hearten to the appeal  made by the provost College of Health Sciences, (Prof. A.A. Adesokan) and the immediate past Dean (Prof. C.O. Adeoti) in September 2013 regarding the indexing of our remaining students for Nursing Council examination holding in November 2014."

The Provost of the School of Health Sciences, LAUTECH,  Prof. Ayoade Adesokan, tasked the newly qualified nurses  to use the information and communication technology for continuos upgrading of their skills.

According to him, nurses should keep learning while practising because medical condition is also changing on daily basis.

He said that using the ICT in a productive way to enhance themselves  would make them to be current and knowledgable about management of some diseases.

Adesokan added that nurses like other professionals should keep learning even after they might have completed their courses, saying any professional who refused to upgrade their skill would soon become outdated and irrelevant.
