TECNO is releasing a 10-inch Windows 8 tablet called WinPad 10


TECNO is releasing its new tablet, the TECNO WinPad 10, a 2-in-1 device in collaboration with Intel Corporation and Microsoft, which according to the company’s Twitter update will be officially launched in Nigeria tomorrow.

The device, which will be available in Nigeria and Kenya this week, runs on Windows 8.1 with Bing Operating system (upgradable to Windows 10) and is powered by an Intel quad-core processor, and comes with one year of free Microsoft Office 365 subscription.

The company has yet to release official specs of the device, but it is likely going to be 10-inch, with sources saying that it would sport a 2GB RAM, 32GB internal memory (expandable to 64 GB), 1.83 GHz Quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F Processor and 7000 mAH battery capacity.

TECNO has so far revealed that it will have a SIM card slot, built-in 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a detachable keyboard. There’s no official word on pricing, although reports say the device could be sold around N60,000 Naira (Sh30,000 Kenyan Shillings).

This is the first time the company would be releasing a Windows-based tablet. Before now, it had launched the TECNO DroiPad 7, TECNO 8H DroiPad and the TECNO Phantom Pad II, all three being Android-based tablets.
