IBM buys enterprise open source provider Red Hat for $34 billion

IBM has acquired enterprise open source provider; Red Hat. The deal was sealed today for a record $34 billion in cash and debt. 

                              

The deal surpasses Microsoft's $26.2 billion acquisition of Linkedln, making it the biggest tech acquisition ever. Although, the major tech acquisition title, still held by EMC.
