Earlier this year in May at Facebook's F8 developer conference, WhatsApp announced its intention to roll out a group calling feature with voice and video support before the end of the year.
However, the company disclosed today the feature is now available for users to start making use of it.
WhatsApp said, the group calling feature will support four different people simultaneously.
The company says it engineered the feature to work under less-than-stellar network conditions, so you can video chat a friend or family member from a far-flung locale so long as you can get yourself online. Calls are also end-to-end encrypted, like all chats on the platform.
The group feature is available on iOS and Android devices.
