Twitter At War With 'promotion of terrorism', Suspends 360,000 Accounts

Social media easily attracts diverse forms of humanity onto its platform for different motives or purpose regardless of people's tribe, root, backgrounds et al. However, this also implies negative minded people such as terrorists equally see social media as a means of promoting radical thoughts, evil intention or recruitment purposes.

This frequent  development has prompted Twitter to actively delete such accounts in cases of such. A look at Twitter’s history record shows about 125,000 terrorism-related accounts have been suspended alone so far this year. According to Reuters, Twitter has embarked on a continuous process to completely take down on such devilish accounts, with an addition of 235,000 accounts suspended.

  1. Terrible news. The anonymity of the internet makes people very bold to these bad activities and think they can get away with it. Twitter should report these people though, not just delete.

  2. I always thought some international agencies monitor these conversations on the internet to find if there is any threat. I guess it's just so overwhelming with the sheer volume of information. Plus there's the privacy issue. I agree with Fred that Twitter should have reported them instead of just deleting. What if there was crucial information in it, right?

  4. I think it's also hard for moderators to know which accounts to suspend because of terrorism. How they are able to identify which one is devilish is interesting.

  8. Social media sites are used for a lot of different things and sometimes those things aren't really good. I think it's great that twitter is doing this, after all we don't want any more threats, after all the shooting and bombings these year.

  11. Good yo know that twitter is taking it down. I have seen some fb and twitter accounts before ahowing men and women holding guns with drugs and stuff. Its circulatinng over facebook too. Its terrible and frightening actually
