How To Use Shortcuts To Navigate The Web

How To Use Shortcuts To Navigate The Web
Grabbing a mouse and keyboard back and forth while browsing could be tedious sometimes. Keyboard shortcuts could come in here, in this case, to make your browsing experience easier and faster. Thankfully, the web has evolved to support an array of keyboard shortcuts. Here are some of the common shortcut keys:

Switching between Tabs and Open Windows

Hold the Ctrl key down and press Tab repeatedly to cycle through tabs.  Ctrl + Shift + Tab reverses the direction. You can also press Ctrl + 1 to 8 to move through tabs.

Ctrl + 1 switches to the first tab and Ctrl + 9 takes you to the last tab.

Alt + Tab allows you to cycle through open windows, whereas, Shift + Alt + Tab reverses the direction.

Alt + F4 closes the current browser window, whereas, Ctrl + F4 closes the current tab. To undo the close tab, press Ctrl + Shift + Tab. To undo close window, press Ctrl + Shift + N.

Displaying Sidebars

To display the history sidebar, press Ctrl + H. Ctrl + Shift + H allows you to display the library sidebar. Ctrl + B displays bookmarks sidebar and Ctrl + J displays the downloads sidebar.

Navigating The Current Page

To open a link in a new tab all you have to do is Press Ctrl and click the link. Press Shift, then click the link to allow you open the link on a new window.

Hit the Page Down or Page Up buttons to scroll down and up the current page respectively. To scroll down the end of current page, press the End button. Home button takes you to the top of the current page.

To zoom in the current page, press Ctrl + + repeatedly. Ctrl - - will zoom out the current page.
