Finally! Pope Francis Debut on Instagram

Pope Francis stunned the Social Media World, Saturday, by making his Instagram debut.
His post read, "Pray for me," (the phrase appeared in nine languages).

Instagram founder CEO, @kevin Systrom who witnessed the Pope make his first post welcomed him on the platform with a picture of them exchanging a handshake and wrote, "Watching Pope Francis post his first photo to Instagram today was an incredible moment."

@franciscus has garnered close to half a million followers. The Pontiff had earlier tweeted about his purpose if joining the social networking platform saying, "I am beginning a new journey in Instagram to walk with you along the path of mercy and the tenderness of God."

This is the Pope's second social media presence after his Twitter account, which has 8.9 million followers.

  4. He is the best pope there is. Very approachable, humble, and open to people. I find it so cute that he has social media accounts. But at the same time I'm glad that he's able to find a platform that could reach millions!

  5. Pope Francis is one pope who doesn't confine himself in his position. He takes his role at heart and reaches out to the flock and whatever way possible. He uses the power of technology as a way to make Christ be felt by others. I attended his Papal Visit last year in Manila and I was touched with his words and gestures.

  6. I'm glad leaders are all taking to social media and connecting with the people. I like how they make the effort to do that, even if it is not exactly convenient for them.
