Former Presidential Adviser Loses His Father

Ahmed Gulak

Alhaji Ali Gillari, the biological father of the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Goodluck Jonathan, Barrister Ahmed A. Gulak, has died within territories controlled by Boko Haram insurgents.

For over four weeks, the dreaded Boko Haram overran Michika and Madagali Local Government areas of Adamawa State where they fully implemented Islamic law. The decomposed body was found three days after his demise. Alhaji Ali Gillari, died in his Gulak residence within the rebels’ enclave.

Some of Gulak residents, who escaped from the town, told reporters in Yola that many of the old people that needed medical attention had been held hostage while some of them were gruesomely murdered by the insurgents.

They explained that some of the aged people who made efforts to escape through the hill to seek medical attention in the neighbouring Cameroon ended up dead on the way. They also reported that corpses litter the streets of Michika and Gulak environs have ended up been eaten by pigs and vultures.

Meanwhile, Adamawa State Acting Governor, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in a press statement issued by his spokesman, Solomon Kumangar, commiserated with the families of the deceased.

He lamented the death of Alhaji Ali Gilari and others.   The acting governor particularly sympathized with Barrister Ahmed Gulak for losing such a great father who was a man of integrity and a devout Muslim.

May His soul rest in perfect peace.
