VoguePay, Farmcrowdy, four other startups for ITU Telecom world


The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has selected six startups to fly Nigeria’s flag in Durban, South Africa, where International Telecommunication Union, ITU, Telecom World 2018 (September 10-13, 2018) Shall Be Hosted.

ITU Telecom World 2018 theme is “Innovation for Smarter Digital Development.”

The LOC listed the selected Startups/Innovators as having a tech-enabled solution that depicts creative, innovative, and globally relevant.

ITU Telecom World 2018 is an election year and Nigeria is vying for two positions: ITU Administrative Council and Director, in charge of Bureau for Telecommunications Development (BDT) for which Mr. Williams Ijeh is a candidate.

The selected startups are:

VoguePay, Farmcrowdy, prepclass.com.ng, Dropque, Wesabi.com, and Zenafri.

“ITU Telecom World 2018 is an election year and Nigeria is vying for two positions: ITU Administrative Council and Director, in charge of Bureau for Telecommunications Development (BDT) for which Mr. Williams Ijeh is a candidate”, Ojobo explained.
Here are the functions of the selected startups:

  • VoguePay: offers a safe and secure platform to accept payment in bitcoin. You can accept one-time payments, set up subscriptions, and even receive donations through the platform.


  • Farmcrowdy: The startup is Nigeria’s leading digital agriculture platform focused on giving people the opportunity to invest in Agriculture by connecting farm sponsors with real farmers.


  • PrepClass: is an edutech startup that offers an academic solution. They provide a customized learning program for every student.


  • Dropque: is a simple one-way video interviewing solution that helps applicants showcase their personalities and help recruiters streamline the process online.


  • Wesabi is a startup that helps individuals and businesses find skilled workers in their neighborhood, through a website and a mobile app.


  • ZenAfri Limited (formerly Lizzie’s Creations), create brilliant fun apps and games for kids that showcase Africa’s unique Culture and tells it’s stories.

In April this year, Chief Regulator and Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta flagged off Nigeria’s campaign for the two positions, when he hosted a dinner for high profile ITU personalities including Secretary General, Mr. Houlin Zhao, officials of the global regulatory Agencies, Ministers, Regulators and global dignitaries in Geneva, Switzerland.

Nigeria’s delegation will be led by Communications Minister, Chief Abdulraheem Adebayo Shittu, Chairman, NCC Board, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, the EVC NCC, Prof. Danbatta, including stakeholders/players, operators, Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), among others.
