The Galaxy S6 Active is the tank of all Samsung smartphones

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is the same great device as the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge — it's just way more rugged and water-resistant.

The S6 Active, which is designed for the outdoorsy and adventure-seeking type, will be exclusive to AT&T in the U.S. and has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with the same 2,560 x 1,440 (Quad HD) resolution, octa-core processor (1.5GHz quad-core + 2.1GHz quad-core), 32GB of internal storage, 16-megapixel back camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera on front. The rugged phone runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Samsung's TouchWiz skin.

But the best tech spec of them all is easily the battery: This phone is packing a 3,500 milliamp-hour (mAh) battery. In comparison, the Galaxy S6's battery holds a mere 2,500 mAh. The S6 Active's battery is even bigger than the Galaxy Note 4's, which tops off at 3,220 mAh. The Motorola Droid Turbo and its 3,900 mAh battery trumps them all, though. Needless to say, this phone is going to last a long time on a single charge — probably up to two days if you manage your usage well.

As per its branding, the S6 Active, is, well, tough. It's dust-proof, shock-resistant and water-resistant with an IP68 rating (submersible up to five feet for up to 30 minutes) — all things the slender and fragile Galaxy S6 (and S6 Edge) isn't. The shock resistance means you can drop this thing from four feet up and it'll still survive.

Special to the S6 Active is an "Activity Zone," a one-stop app with access to all of your outdoors essentials such as the flashlight, compass, stopwatch and health tracking features.

The S6 Active will be available in three colors when it goes on sale in June: camo white, camo blue and gray. Pricing has not been announced.
