Instagram is a massive social media platform with 500 million daily active users as of September 2017. It simply allows people to share pictures and express their thoughts, opinions, feelings including comment and like other people’s posts, whilst following their favourite accounts for some eye candy.
The app has established its presence as part of our lives albeit with similar features to its fierce rival – Snapchat.
Instagram users tend to seek feedback from their audience through likes and comments, hence they use hashtags, which helps to connect with a larger audience.
From the onset, users had to search for hashtags that are related to their content and see what new content is available within. However, with the release of Instagram’s latest update, you can directly follow them instead!
How to follow a hashtag
1. You search the name up or tap on a hashtag which has appeared on your timeline.
2. Then, pop-up displays, informing you of the new feature.
3. From there on, you can scroll down and navigate through the relevant content posted by millions of users all around the world.
One of the beauties of followed hashtags is that it creates an opportunity for people to know you (existing) and see your profile and vice versa. With this Instagram’s feature, you can always view followed hashtags on your friends’ account and have something to keep your eyes on! You can access the newly released feature in the latest update from the Play Store.
