"When we have the zeal, achieving our purpose becomes less tedious." These are the words, cries and demands by the entire students and National Association of Staff Union (NASU) of Obafemi Awolowo University over the closure of the university denying students of their basic moral rights of learning and attaining their dreams.
The reasons for the closure of Ife Varsity is based on the ongoing workers protest against alleged imposition of the new Vice Chancellor - (Prof. Ayobami Salami) on the University community. However, majority of the university community do not want to dwell on rightness or wrongness of protests but the effect constant disagreement has had on students in the institution.

This sounds like quite the controversy. Of course, it's important for the students because it's their education that we're talking about. I hope them come to an agreement that will benefit both parties soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope they resolve the issue fast. This could really lead to students missing a lot of school.
ReplyDeleteInternationally, this is happening and the government could not interfere with the provate schools. The rights of the students must be the prioritize bt this institution than ant other problems. Education is a process of learning something new and must be taught by schools without interruption.
ReplyDeleteWas it closed in just a snap or at the end of the school year or term? I don't think it's fair for students and parents if that happened in the middle of the school year. Everyone becomes a stakeholder in the situation.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why the appointment of a vice chancellor caused this much uproar. Then, to close the school on top of that seems outrageous. It just all seems a bit messy. First they didn't want the particular VC which resulting in the closure of the university, and now any VC will do in order to reopen it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad situation. The students are really much on the disadvantage side. Hope the issue could be resolve soon. Just asking, are there universities where the said students could transfer while the proper authorities are ironing out a solution
ReplyDeleteOffice politics should never interfere with education. There is simply no way they could explain this off. The students have suffered for something they did not really have any fault in.
ReplyDeleteThat is so difficult. When education institutions close up even for a few days, the education of students, does take a toll.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for the students who get caught between labor disputes and then their education is put on the line. It's good that they are eager to learn and the institution should see this as a positive sign to continue imparting knowledge to them.
ReplyDeleteThis is really sad to know that these things are targeting and affecting the educational institute.
ReplyDeleteNot good :( Education should be education and should not get affected by such incidents.
ReplyDeleteZeal can take you a long way. I'm sorry for the students and hope there is a resolve soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, your post is surprisingly short and it took me some time to figure out what you are referring to. Hope the problem will be solved soon!
