According to reports circulated earlier this year that, Twitter was exploring expanding its 140-character tweet limit. But according to Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, that restrain is here for good.
Dorsey makes it affirmative, "It's staying," on NBC's Today show on Friday, 18th March. "It's a good constraint for us, and it allows for of-the-moment brevity."
Even though Dorsey says the 140-character isn't going away, it's still possible Twitter could introduce some kind of tweet-expanding feature down the line.
Last summer, Twitter removed the 140-character limit in its Direct Message tool, which supports private and group messaging.
